How we handle your data
So that we can offer you the best service possible, we need to collect some information from you when you order from us. This includes your name and contact information. However, we recognise that the privacy of our customers’ personal information is very important, so we will never pass on your details to any other companies (unless we are required to do so by law).
We might email you from time to time to let you know about any special offers that could be of interest; if you would rather not receive these emails, just use our mailing list removal form to ask for your address to be removed from the list.
Log files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as BT or Virgin Media), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site. It does not include any personally identifiable information – we can’t tell who you are, only what you did while on our site. We use this information, in aggregate, to determine how many people visit our site, how they found us and if they experienced any problems on the site.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies also allow web applications to respond to you as an individual; the website can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.
We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about webpage traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes. Cookies also enable our website to ‘remember’ your basket as you move from one page to another and to allow account holders to login to their accounts.
Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website by remembering your shopping basket, allowing access to user accounts and enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
